The
“With”, “In” and
“Upon” Ministry of the Spirit
“With”
– “Para”, in Greek – means
“with, or alongside”
And I will
pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, so that He
may be with
you forever, the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because
it does not see Him nor know Him. But you know Him, for He dwells with
you and shall be in
you. John 14:16,17
And when that
One comes, He will convict the world concerning sin, and concerning
righteousness, and concerning judgment. Concerning sin, because they do
not believe on Me; concerning righteousness, because I go to My Father
and you see Me no more; concerning judgment, because the ruler of this
world is judged. John 16:8-11
“In”
– “En”, in Greek – means
“inside”
See above
– John 14:17
And when He
had said this, He breathed on them
and said to them, Receive the
Holy Spirit. John 20:22
“Upon”
– “Epi” in Greek – means
“over, upon, superimposed upon”
And having
met with them,
He commanded them not to depart from
Jerusalem
, but to
await the promise of the Father which you heard from Me. For John truly
baptized with water, but you shall be baptized in the Holy Spirit
not many days from now. Then, indeed, these coming together, they asked
Him, saying, Lord, do You at this time restore the kingdom to
Israel
? And He said
to them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the
Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power, the
Holy Spirit coming upon
you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in
Jerusalem
and in all
Judea
, and in
Samaria
, and to the end of the
earth. Acts 1:4-8
And in the
fulfilling of the day of Pentecost, they were all with one accord in
one place. And suddenly a sound came out of the heaven as borne along
by the rushing of a mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they
were sitting. And tongues as of fire appeared to them, being
distributed; and it sat upon
each of them. And they were all filled of the Holy Spirit, and began to
speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:1-4
